Rain could once again play a deciding role in the Duleep Trophy, with India Red taking the field against India Blue at Alur grounds here on Friday.

Only 49 overs of play was possible in the first Duleep Trophy outing between India Green and India Blue, as showers and a wet outfield severely affected proceedings at Just Cricket ground here. With the city witnessing heavy rain on Thursday night, and more showers predicted for Friday, it seems likely that action will be curtailed once more. The Alur ground, however, boasts of a better drainage system than Just Cricket grounds, so the chances of a stubbornly wet outfield proving to be hindrance is considerably less in this fixture. Consistent batsmen Shubman Gill and Priyank Panchal lead the India Blue and India Red teams respectively. Anmolpreet Singh, Basil Thampi and Aniket Choudhary are some of the big names in India Blue, while Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ishan Kishan and Varun Aaron will turn out for India Red.
