Gambhir denies role behind DDCA's Cricket Committee resignation

Gambhir believes the Cricket Committee would have been disbanded after the adoption of the Lodha Reforms.

Gautam Gambhir issued a statement on Monday denying his role behind the resignation of Delhi and District Cricket Association's (DDCA) Cricket Committee.

The management vetoed the recommendation of the Cricket Committee which comprises of Virender Sehwag, Aakash Chopra and Rahul Sanghvi to retain Manoj Prabhakar as the bowling coach. It was alleged that the left-hand batsman was against Prabhakar's appointment as he had been named in the 2000 match-fixing scandal.

"It’s being said my protest against Manoj Prabhakar’s appointment as Delhi bowling coach has led to DDCA Cricket Committee’s resignation. Yes, I’ve always adopted zero tolerance when it comes to cricketers alleged of corruption but but the real reason for their resignation as told to me by Powers that be was that post adoption of Lodha reforms on September 20th, (the) Cricket Committee will be disbanded," Gambhir tweeted.
