Yuvraj Singh admitted that Hardik Pandya’s knock of 91 off 34 balls is probably the best innings he has seen, at an event in Mumbai on Friday.

As India gears up for the World Cup -- which begins in England later this month -- all eyes are on Hardik Pandya. Experts feel Pandya, whose big-hitting under pressure conditions has made him a game-changer in the shorter format, could have a major impact in the English conditions.

Yuvraj Singh, who guided India to its World Cup title in 2011, agrees that Pandya has a ‘great chance’ of faring well in England.

“I was actually having this conversation with him yesterday, where I told him that ‘you have a great chance of performing really well with the ball and bat’, the kind of form he is in at the moment,” Yuvraj said on the sidelines of an event organised by

MoneyGram .

In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), the 25-year-old has been in red-hot form, amassing 380 runs in 13 games for Mumbai Indians. He has also scalped 12 wickets and Yuvraj feels this will be a big morale booster for the youngster.

“The way he is batting at the moment, it is phenomenal and I hope he carries that form (into the World Cup). He has been bowling well in patches but as I said it is all about how you handle the pressure,” Yuvraj said.

He added, “T20 is very different from 50-overs cricket. T20 gets over very quickly, whereas the 50-overs game looks like a long version now especially after T20s. I just hope that Hardik has an awesome tournament, the way he is batting at the moment and the other guys as well."

Yuvraj admitted that Pandya, who has been hitting the ball straight quite often in the last few matches, is ‘probably in the best shape.’

“I have been watching since the practice games, he was hitting the ball really well. I had told him 'it is going to be a special tournament for you, the way you are hitting the ball',” Yuvraj, who was the Player of the tournament in 2011 World Cup, said.

“Over the years, as an experienced player you know if someone is hitting the ball well, he is in great shape,” he added.

Yuvraj also admitted that Pandya’s knock of 91 off 34 balls is probably the best innings he has seen.

“He hit four quality bowlers he was batting against. When you are doing that, you know that someone is batting very well,” Yuvraj pointed out.
