The most 100-plus opening partnerships (21) record in ODIs is held by Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. Now, Dhawan and Rohit are six innings away from making that record their own.

This opening stand of 127 runs also set the record being the highest for India against Australia in World Cups, surpassing 76 by the same pair in Sydney in the 2015 edition.

Moreover, Dhawan and Rohit joined Gilchrist and Hayden for the record of most (six) 100-plus stand in ICC tournaments.
