Russell has been ruled of the World Cup with injury.

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, on Monday, was ruled out of the rest of the World Cup 2019 through injury. Nursing a hamstring injury, Russell didn’t play in West Indies’ five-run defeat against New Zealand in their last game.

West Indies is all but out of semifinal contention having lost four out of its six games and Russell’s hamstring issues had compounded the team's problems further. Twenty-six year-old batsman Sunil Ambris has been confirmed as his replacement, and he will join up with his team in preparation for his side's match against India at Old Trafford, on Thursday 27 June.

Ambris averages 105.33 from his six ODIs, with his solitary international century coming against Ireland in the recent Tri-series that also featured Bangladesh.
