Mosaddek Hossain struck four boundaries in a cameo as Bangladesh finished at 330/6 in its World Cup opening match against South Africa at The Oval in London.

Hossain began the assault by carting Phehlukwayo for two back-to-back boundaries in the 45th over before shifting his focus to Chris Morris two overs later, hammering him for a brace of boundaries before finally holing out in the 49th over for a 20-ball 26.

Hossain's breezy knock came close on the heels of an unbeaten 24-ball 52, with five sixes, which helped Bangladesh defeat the West Indies in the final of the recently concluded tri-nation series by five wickets.

Mosaddek was hailed by team-mate Tamim Iqbal as one with a "45-year-old brain". He remained on the fringes of the national team, and made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in March 2017 in what was Bangladesh's 100th Test.
