India's practice session, ahead of its World Cup 2019 campaign opener against South Africa, was called off due to heavy rains in Southampton.
However, the forecast looks promising for Wednesday with the weather expected to be "generally dry, with some sunny spells, but it might cloud over later."
"There’s a possibility of a shower in the afternoon, but nothing too major," a British Met official said.
South Africa comes into the contest, having lost both its opening matches against England and Pakistan, and has to win at least five of its remaining seven matches to have a hope of moving into the knockouts.
India, on the other hand, will be eager to start off on a winning note. With injuries ruling out Dale Steyn and Lungi Ngidi out of Wednesday's encounter, Virat Kohli and Co. will feel confident of their chances.
