Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa caused some tongues to wag, especially on Twitter, after he was sighted slipping his bowling arm into his pocket before giving the ball a twirl and then ambling down to bowl.

As the World Cup match between India and Australia made steady progress here at the Oval, a few clips were circulated on social media, questioning whether Zampa was applying some substance onto the ball. However, the visuals were inconclusive.

The 27-year-old leggie remained wicketless against India as he turned out to be expensive giving away 50 runs in six overs. Zampa was first introduced in the 12th over after the first powerplay and then in the middle overs. On a wicket which helped the Indian batsmen, Zampa was taken to the cleaners right from the start.

Zampa had taken four wickets in his first two matches of World Cup but proved to be ineffective against India after Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma got off to a good start.
