Rishabh Pant made his first Test half-century, an 84-ball 92, on day two of the first Test against the West Indies. He hit eight fours and four sixes and, with captain Virat Kohli, put together a 133-run partnership for the fifth wicket before falling to Devendra Bishoo. ▲

Virat Kohli brought up his 24th Test century and 17th as Test captain, making a 230-ball 139 on his return from a short break. His knock was punctuated with 10 fours. In trying to accelerate the scoring rate, he holed out to mid-on off the bowling of debutant Sherman Lewis. ▲

Ravindra Jadeja made his maiden Test hundred and remained unbeaten when Virat Kohli declared the Indian innings after piling up 649 runs on the board, for the loss of nine wickets. Jadeja reached the landmark on the 132nd ball he faced. He celebrated in his trademark style after reaching the hundred. ▲

Mohammed Shami gave India two early breakthroughs with the new ball, removing Kraigg Brathwaite for 2 and Kieran Powell 1. He went off the field for a short period after his first spell, but returned and bowled two more overs towards stumps on day two. ▲
