Rohit Sharma became the ninth Indian cricket team player to score 8000 runs in ODIs.

India opener Rohit Sharma equalled Sourav Ganguly's record of becoming the third fastest to reach 8,000 ODI career runs, showing glimpses of form ahead of the World Cup 2019.

When he took his 49th run, Rohit reached the milestone in his 200th ODI match, the same as former India captain Ganguly.

Only Virat Kohli (175 innings) and AB de Villiers (182 innings) have been faster than Rohit.

Former India master blaster Sachin Tendulkar took 210 innings to reach the same milestone.

This is, incidentally, India's last ODI match before the World Cup in England.

He become the ninth Indian cricket team player to reach 8000 runs after Virat Kohli, M.S. Dhoni, Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Ganguly and Mohammad Azharuddin.

Rohit also became the ninth Indian cricketer after Tendulkar, Dhoni, Kohli, Yuvraj, Dravid, Ganguly, Azharuddin and Sehwag to complete 3000 ODI runs on home soil.
