The Indian team intends to have pink ball net sessions amid red ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh starting in Indore on Thursday.
The second fixture at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, starting November 22, will be a historic affair as both the countries cut their day-night Test ribbon. Mayank Agarwal, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja already had a pink ball training session at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on Sunday. Ahead of the Indore Test — a usual red-ball fixture — the team management had requested the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) for SG pink balls. “The SG pink balls are here. The team is likely to have a training session later in the evening after 5 pm. We have made the necessary arrangement but it is still not confirmed if they will practice. But I understand they want to keep the option available,” a source close to MPCA told Sportstar on Tuesday. At least 10 players from the Test squad have prior experience of the pink ball, courtesy domestic cricket. The ones who will make their pink debut are Rahane, Shubman Gill, Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and captain Virat Kohli.
