Ashok Malhotra only nominee for ICA president's post

Former Indian cricketers, Shantha Rangaswamy and Anshuman Gaekwad, have also filed nominations for positions in the ICA and the BCCI Apex Council.

The nomination application list for positions in the ICA and allied positions in the BCCI have been released.

Former India international, Ashok Malhotra, is the lone nominee for the role of president in the Indian Cricketers' Association election. According to the list of nomination applications received by the electoral officer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Malhotra - who has also served as a coach for domestic teams like Bengal - is the only candidate running for the top role, while Ashu Dani, Hitesh Mujmudar and Siddharth Sahib Singh are running for the role of secretary.

Former Indian cricketer and coach, Anshuman Gaekwad - who finds himself in the middle of a Conflict of Interest tussle for being a member of the BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee has filed his nomination for he Male Representative to the BCCI Apex Council, a position Kirti Azad, Dodda Ganesh and Rakesh Dhruve have also applied for. Former ICA and CAC member, Shantha Rangaswamy, too, filed her nomination for the post of Female ICA Representative Nominee to the BCCI Apex Council. Amrita P Shinde, CTM Suguna and Mana Dabhi are the other applicants.

Surender Khanna is the lone candidate who have applied to be the representative nominee to the IPL Governing Council. Kishore Sharma and V Krishnaswamy have applied for the position of treasurer.

The nomination application list also made it clear that "the Electoral Officer will undertake scrutiny of the applications received and issue a draft list of duly nominated candidates" by 5pm on October 7. "Withdrawal of nominations appearing in this list or the Draft List of Duly Nominated Candidates may be completed through written request via e-mail to  electoral.officer@bcci.tv no later than 3:00PM on Wednesday, 9 October 2019," the notice said.

Only 22 associations have ICA representative nominees for their respective state chapters. Delhi Cricket Association, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, Haryana Cricket Association, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and Rajasthan Cricket Association did not send a nomination for a male representative while Mumbai, Jharkhand, Odisha and Punjab associations did not receive any nominations from female candidates for ICA's state chapter.

The online voting process for the apex council in the ICA will be held on October 11-13 and the results will be declared by 12pm on October 15.

The ICA Board meeting will be held on October 16.
