The India under-19 side expectedly raced to a quick win – by an innings and 158 runs against South Africa on the third day of the four-day warm-up match at the Sports Hub, Kariyavattom, here on Friday.

The huge victory for the home side came with a day and two sessions to spare as South Africa, resuming its second innings at the overnight total of 50 for two, were bowled out before lunch for a paltry 85.

This handsome win for the Indians was fashioned by seamers Rex Singh and Anshul Kamboj who returned with a haul of four and three wickets respectively and were supported well by left-arm spinner Manishi who finished with two scalps.

There was absolutely no resistance from the South Africans as the Indian bowlers got going and completed the proceedings in just 24.2 overs this morning.

India had defeated the Proteas by nine wickets in the first warm-up game last week. The teams will get down to the final preparations for the quadrangular – featuring India A, India B, South Africa and Afghanistan – starting here on March 5.

Brief scores:

South Africa (U-19): 152 and 85 (Matthew Montgomery 36, Rex Singh four for 18, Anshul Kamboj three for 20) lost to India (U-19): 395.
