"Till the next elections the existing panel will continue to hold office,” said CAB president Sourav Ganguly.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Thursday cancelled its forthcoming annual general meeting (AGM) and elections, scheduled on July 31, in the wake of the recent Supreme Court verdict on the basis of the Justice R. M. Lodha Committee recommendations.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Wednesday evening had informed all its affiliate units to suspend their election processes if any because of the latest Supreme Court order.

“Since we were left with just two days (before the deadline for the submission of nominations), we had to take this decision now. Till the next elections the existing panel will continue to hold office,” said CAB president Sourav Ganguly.

CAB legal adviser Ushanath Banerjee said notice for fresh elections would be put up after implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations following a constitution amendment. “Everybody has been informed of the development. Whatever is to be done as per the Supreme Court order and BCCI directive, we will do that. We will analyse everything before taking the next step,” he said.
