It is learnt the Indian team management brought up the issue of practice matches ahead of the India-Australia Test series during its meeting with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) here on Wednesday evening.
The Indian team is keen on some quality tour games before the first match of the four-Test series gets underway in Adelaide on December 6.
Coach Ravi Shastri, skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane met Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji at the team hotel where they had a frank exchange of views.
The lack of three-day practice matches in a crowded schedule has hurt the side in the past. The team wants to adapt to the conditions down under in the longer format before the Test series commences.

Apart from dissecting the Indian performances on what was an eventful tour of England, it is understood the both the COA and the team-management looked at a road map for the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup.
A final decision on the venues for the ODI and Twenty20 series against the West Indies — major associations like the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) have demanded more complimentary and concessional tickets for staging these games — is expected to be taken by the CoA during the next two days.
Negotiations are on, it is understood. In case things don’t work out, the BCCI has said it has back-up venues ready.
