CA, ECB to visit Pakistan for security briefings

Security briefings will be given to convince top executives from the boards to send their teams to Pakistan to play international cricket.

Top executives from Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will visit Pakistan for security briefings in September and October, 2019, the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed.

Earl Eddings, the CA chairman, and Kevin Roberts, the CA chief executive, will be in the country from September 16-18. The ECB CEO and director will follow them in October.

PCB chairman Ehsan Mani conveyed this to the Board of Governors at a meeting in Lahore on Friday. According to Mani, the visiting officials will be given complete security briefings to convince them to send their teams to Pakistan and help them revive international cricket in Pakistan.

Very few teams have visited Pakistan to play international cricket since the terrorist attack on a Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009.

This will be the first time that top officials from the cricket boards of Australia and England have back-to-back visits to Pakistan since March, 2009, when the mishap occurred.

A surplus budget for the remaining months of the fiscal year 2019-20 was also approved at the meeting.

A nomination committee has also been formed to recommend independent directors for the Board of Governors.
