England edged out Pakistan in a thrilling game which had to be decided in a one-over eliminator, in Sharjah on Monday. Chasing 155 to win, Pakistan, who looked like falling short at one point of time, reached 154 in the allotted 20 overs resulting in a tie.

Pakistan’s knight in shining armour was Shoaib Malik, who scored 75 from 54 balls only to be dismissed in the penultimate ball with two runs still needed. Pakistan batted first in the super over and could eke out only three runs with Umar Akmal getting out in the last ball. England chased the meager target of four runs with a ball to spare. Morgan polished off the game with a double as Afridi’s leg breaks couldn’t derail the English.

The English complete a clean sweep of the T20I series 3-0, having won the first two.
