England closed the fourth day of the third and final Test against Pakistan on 46-2 after they were set a target of 284 to level the three-match series in Sharjah on Wednesday.

Skipper Alastair Cook was unbeaten on 17 and Joe Root was six not out as Enland needed another 238 runs on the final day with eight wickets intact for a series-levelling win.

Pakistan were dismissed for 355 in their second innings with opener Mohammad Hafeez scoring a brilliant 151. Stuart Broad took 3-44.

Pakistan lead the series 1-0 after winning the second Test in Dubai while the first Test ended in a draw in Abu Dhabi.
