IPL 2019: RCB faces another umpiring howler over no-ball

Royal Challengers Bangalore faced another no-ball controversy, the second in the tournament, against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.

In the penultimate delivery of the SRH innings, RCB skipper Virat Kohli and paceman Umesh Yadav were upset with umpire Nigel Llong, who felt the bowler’s back leg landed on the crease. The television replay confirmed it was behind the line.

Yadav conceded 28 runs in the over. Kane Williamson remained unbeaten on 70 off 43 balls as Sunrisers posted 175 for the loss of seven wickets.

Kohli and Yadav tried to reason the decision but Llong asked them to carry on with the game.

Umpiring howlers have been a talking point in IPL 2019.

Earlier in the tournament, umpire S. Ravi had failed to pick Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians) overstepping by a few centimetres against RCB. A correct decision could have changed the result.

“We are playing at the IPL level and not playing club cricket. The umpires should have had their eyes open. That is a ridiculous call in the last ball. If it is a game of margins, I don't know what is happening. They should have been more sharp and careful out there,” Kohli had lashed out.

In the end, the gaffe didn't matter as RCB won the match by four wickets.
