Live auction updates

Here are the final franchise picks from the IPL auction.

This ends the significant IPL auction, the bidding and selections intriguing and, in some scenarios, surprising. That Martin Guptill, the potent limited-overs' batsman for New Zealand, who blasted a double century in the World Cup quarterfinal against West Indies, has been unsold, is quite a surprise. So, too, is Usman Khawaja, who plundered 345 runs in four matches in the recently concluded Big Bash League.

Although Indian players were meant to be sold for good prices, some attracted handsome bids, while some quality players like Manoj Tiwary, the seasoned veteran of Bengal, and Pragyan Ojha, the left-arm spinner who has played for India 24 Tests, and 24 limited-overs internationals, went unsold. The franchises had their own strategies, and it made for an amusing spectacle.

Pawan Negi, who has played three first-class matches, was taken by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 8,50,00,000, a price higher than Yuvraj Singh (Rs. 7,00,00,000). Karnataka's Karun Nair and Baroda's Deepak Hooda, both having had pegged their base price at Rs. 10,00,000, were eventually bought for Rs. 4,00,00,000 and Rs. 4,20,00,000.
