Four held for IPL online betting

Four persons, who allegedly involved in online betting during the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab, have been arrested.

Businessmen, Harshad (42), Shamsu (45), Ifsul Rehman (34) and Mohammed Rasheed (31), were arrested last night from a rented building here, police said. They have seized six mobile phones, computers and Rs 5.02 lakh from them.

The raid on the premises was conducted following information received by Assistant Commisisoner, K. Ashraf.

A team led by Nadakavu Circle Inspector Moosa Vallikkadan and Sub Inspector G. Gopakumar made the arrest, police told PTI.

A case under provisions of the Kerala Gaming Act has been registered against them. They were later released on bail.

In yesterday’s match at Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kings XI Punjab by five wickets.
