Kieron Pollard admitted that it was his urge to get going against the best that may have been critical in his form against RCB.

Ever since he was roped in as the most expensive signing, in the 2010 player auction, Kieron Pollard is a constant, as far as Mumbai Indians (MI) is concerned. The Trinidadian will be hoping to keep his excellent run, with the bat, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), at the Wankhede Stadium, on Tuesday.

In three of Mumbai Indians' last four matches against Virat Kohli's RCB, Pollard has made a huge impact with the blade. The all-rounder admitted that it was his urge to get going against the best that may have been critical in his form against RCB.

“I'm always hungry to perform. For any individual, any cricketer, performance is important. For me, what gets me going against any team are big players. Big players mean big games. These are the times you want to be counted,” Pollard said, on Monday.

“As it happens in these instances. If I could tell the future, I wished I could tell what would happen tomorrow, and sit down with a broader smile on my face. However, there are processes that you need to go through as a player, think hard about the opposition, think what they're going to do and see how you're going to come back. Hopefully, tomorrow is a successful one, for the team and me as well.”

While Pollard has had little opportunity to impress in Mumbai Indians' disappointing run so far, his Caribbean colleague Evin Lewis has been impressive in his maiden IPL stint. Pollard heaped praise on the young opener.

“He (Lewis) has been playing a lot of international cricket recently. The only difference is that IPL being a T20 tournament, the biggest T20 tournament in the world, the expectations are high. There is no room for failure. However, at the end of the day, you still have to come and enjoy yourself, and enjoy the experience,” Pollard said.

“We have been speaking about it. He has seen a lot of it, on television. It is a matter of him soaking in the atmosphere, and as we can see, he has got into the groove, a couple of scores under his belt, hoping as a team that he can bat and bat a bit longer, and get a big score, for not only himself but also for the team.”
