Hello and welcome to the LIVE updates from Match 7 of IPL 2019 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

Here is the detailed account of the incident which left RCB skipper Kohli fuming.

What a bizarre end to a fascinating contest between two teams which gave it all. Another controversy dominates proceedings in the IPL and its only the first week.

MI skipper Rohit on the no-ball incident: "Honestly, I got to know after we crossed the ropes. It's not good for the game. These are game changers. The umpires have to watch what is happening. It was disappointing to see that."

RCB skipper Kohli on the no-ball decision: "We are playing IPL not club cricket. It's a ridiculous decision! Such fine margins are important and the umpires should have their eyes open. It was a big no ball"

Here's the no-ball which wasn't called by the one field umpire PHOTO: HOTSTAR SCREENGRAB

WHAT A WIN FOR MUMBAI INDIANS! A classic at the Chinnaswamy! Mumbai Indians wins by six runs. Malinga the hero for MI. Ohhhh wait. Drama here! RCB needing seven from the final ball could only manage a single to long on. Celebrations from the MI players and TV replay shows that the final delivery was a foot long no-ball from the Sri Lankan! How did the umpires miss that?! The RCB players are fuming.

◙ Shivam Dube smacks a six off Malinga in the first ball of the over! RELIEF for RCB fans and then some more as he is dropped the next ball at short third man by Bumrah.

17 needed off the last 6 balls.

◙ 1, 1lb, 1wd, W, 0, 1, 1. Bumrah shows why he is the best death bowler in the world yet again this evening. What a spell by the Indian considering he injured his shoulder in his last match. RCB 171/ after 19 overs.

'ABD! ABD! ABD!' chants ring around the Chinnaswamy!

4, 1, , 1, 6, 6,!! AB DESTROYERRRR!!! De Villiers has nearly brought this home for RCB by pummelling Hardik Pandya for 18 runs off the over. RCB requires 22 off the last two. RCB 166/4 after 18 overs

◙  Bumrah (3-0-12-2) has one more over to go but RCB may be able to find a way around it if de Villiers stays till the end. RCB 148/4 after 17 overs

De Villiers moves to fifty off just 31 balls. His knock consists of three fours and four sixes.

◙ De Villiers swats two massive sixes off Malinga and that brings the asking rate down down! He took a while to get going but he has now moved on to 49 off 30 balls. Hetmyer, meanwhile, aimlessly swings a straight ball from Bumrah into the hands of the mid-off fielder the first ball after the strategic break. RCB 147/4 after 16.1 overs

◙ ...and just after the landmark Kohli is dismissed.  Bumrah, who was a major doubt for this contest, has taken the biggest wicket of this match. Kohli goes for a pull and ends up only skying a catch to mid-wicket. RCB 116/3 after 14 overs

Kohli becomes the fastest batsman to reach 5,000 IPL runs and the second batsman to do so. after CSK's Suresh Raina.

◙ 14 runs off the Malinga over with de Villiers finishing it with a delightful flick over fine leg and deep square leg area. Kohli likes that! RCB 109/2 after 12 overs

Kohli ends the drought with a sweet strike for four over the bowler's head in the first ball of the 11th over. We have a tight chase on the cards here.

◙ The boundaries have dried up; none since the end of powerplay overs. Markande and Krunal keeping things tight against Kohli and de Villiers. RCB 82/2 after 10 overs

WICKET! Strategic timeout brings another wicket. Mayank Markande gets Parthiv to undercut a wrong one on to the stumps!  RCB 67/2 after 6.5 overs

◙ After Kohli's back-to-back fours off Hardik, Parthiv smacks the senior Pandya, Krunal, for a four and a six on the leg side. 50 up for RCB in no time! RCB 60/1 after 6 overs

Rohit has placed a short third man in the circle to cut off Kohli's get-away dab shot.

◙ New batsman Kohli is away with three successive fours off Bumrah. A pull to mid-wicket region, an edge to third man and a square drive; the third was the pick of the bunch for me. RCB 39/1 after 4 overs

◙ Oh dear.. Poor running between the wickets between the pair. Parthiv calls for a single after a stutter and that gives Rohit at mid-wicket the opportunity to knock down the stumps with a quick throw to dismiss Moeen Ali. RCB 27/1 after 3.3 overs

◙ Sweet connection from Mo! He flicks MaClenaghan off his pads for a massive six to end the third over. That over brought 17 runs for RCB and it gets going in the chase. RCB 27/0 after 3 overs

◙ Malinga is back and is on the money! Just three runs conceded as RCB is off to a sedate start. RCB 10/0 after 2 overs

RCB chase is set to begin with Parthiv Patel and surprise, surprise... Moeen Ali.

Hardik Pandya scores 15 runs in the final over of the match to take Mumbai to 187. Do you think Royal Challengers have it in them to chase this down?

◙ SMOKED! Hardik Pandya doing a Russell here. Two powerful sixes in the last over, just what MI needed. MI 187/8 after 20 overs

◙ Siraj removes Mayank Markande in the very first ball of the last over. He has edged it to Parthiv. MI 172/8 after 19.1 overs

◙  A four and a six to greet Navdeep Saini and guess what Saini does next? He gifts a 'Free Hit' to the younger Pandya. It is all happening at the Chinnaswamy! He should thank his stars that Pandya just got a single from that free hit. MI 172/7 after 19 overs

◙ A thick inside edge as McClenaghan tries to go for a biggie rattles the furniture. Siraj is all pumped up. What a way to start the 18th over. MI 147/7 after 17.1 overs.

Chahal ends with figures of 4-0-38-4 with just that single over going for 20 runs after Yuvraj's six-hitting assault.

WICKET! Chahal with his third wicket of the evening, removes Suryakumar, who was did well to not let MI's good start slip. WICKET! Chahal has his fourth; what a spell this has been by the Indian leggie. He bowls one wide off Pollard's reach and the West Indian takes a mighty swing at it. He mistimes his shot, spooning a catch to Hetmyer at sweeper cover. Mumbai Indians 145/5 after 16 overs

◙ Yuvraj now gets stuck in now! The southpaw goes downtown on Yuzi Chahal's leg spinners! SIX, SIX, SIX, WICKET! Some vintage hitting down the ground by Yuvi, before he went for the fourth one which was held by Siraj at long-off!  Good bowling by Chahal, who still pitched the ball up in search of a wicket. Mumbai Indians 126/3 after 14 overs

◙ Moeen Ali comes on and Suryakumar greets the off-spinner with a six and a four. That should ease the pressure a bit on Yuvraj Singh at the other end, who is on 5 off 8 balls. Mumbai Indians 106/2 after 13 overs

MI scored 52/0 from the first six overs. The next six brings 41 runs for the loss of two wickets.

WICKET! Yikes! Just as I say that, Rohit mistimes a pull shot off Umesh and Siraj runs in from long on to take a good catch. Huge wicket for RCB! Rohit looked set for a big one here. Mumbai Indians 87/2 after 10.4 overs

◙ Jeez, this bloke Rohit looks in great knick today. He hasn't let Chahal to bog down MI's run rate; sweeping him for a boundary. Colin de Grandomme's gentle medium pace is to his liking here as he swats one into the gap on the leg side. He moves to 48 off just 31 balls. Mumbai Indians 82/1 after 10 overs

Yadav had his best IPL season in 2018 when he opened the innings. He scored 512 runs averaging 36.57 with four fifties. Can he still do the job at no. 3 position?

WICKET! What have you done, Quinton!? He tried to reverse sweep Yuzvendra Chahal, who pulled the line to the leg stump, and ended up getting bowled behind his legs. He departs for 23. Kohli is pumped and is quite happy with that breakthrough. Suryakumar Yadav is the new man in. 54/1 after 6.3 overs

DROPPED! Saini will feel hard done by! De Kock hit one hard into the mid-wicket area but the ball burst through the hands of Colin de Grandhomme and goes for a four. Rohit lofts one over the covers to bring up the 50-run partnership for the pair.  52/0 after 6 overs

◙  Pace from RCB has helped the Mumbai openers. De Kock and Kohli have smacked one six each right of the middle of their bats thus far! The South African batsman nearly ran himself out with a risky call for a single. Mumbai will be pleased with the start. MI 43/0 after 5 overs

It's been all pace from RCB so far with Umesh, Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj. Saini in particular has some serious pace to burn. The Delhi fast bowler has clocked 150 kmphs.

◙ De Kock with a big swipe against Umesh and gets his first four of the evening. De Kock, who played for RCB last season without much success, will be keen to prove a point with a big one. MI 25/0 after 3 overs

"Pressure is always there when I step out. Just want to come out and give the team a flying start" - said Rohit before start of play.

◙ Rohit gets going with two fours on the leg side; using the pace of Umesh to guide the ball to the boundary. That must feel good for the Mumbai captain, who will have great memories of this venue. It was here where he made his name as an opener with the first of his three ODI double hundreds back in 2013 against Australia. MI 9/0 after 1 over

8:00 pm: The Chinnaswamy stadium is packed as it usually is on IPL nights. MI's Rohit and de Kock are out in the middle; Umesh Yadav to bowl the first ball.

7:45 pm: Mumbai Indians has a great track record at the Chinnaswamy; winning nine and losing just twice. Kohli's RCB, interestingly, has less than 50 per cent win in its home venue and the skipper admits its not been a 'great home advantage'.

7:41 pm: Jasprit Bumrah recovers in time to play this crucial game. But the bigger news is the return of Lasith Malinga , who plays his first IPL game since the 2017 season. The Sri Lankan slinger is the highest wicket taker in IPL history with 154 wickets and has been a Mumbai Indians player through and through.

Teams

Royal Challengers Bangalore  (Playing XI): Virat Kohli(c), Parthiv Patel(w), Moeen Ali, AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Shivam Dube, Colin de Grandhomme, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI):   Rohit Sharma (C), Quinton de Kock (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Mayank Markande, Mitchell McClenaghan, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah.

7:32 pm: Kohli wins the toss, elects to bowl first. RCB remains unchanged from its game against CSK.

7:30 pm: Kohli says he is glad to have got the CSK game out of the way and there are plenty of games to get back in the tournament. MI skipper hopes Mumbai can put behind its slow start behind them this season.

7:25 pm: We are just five minutes away from the toss .

7:23 pm: The average score batting first at the Chinnaswamy is 170.  Teams batting first have won 10 times, while chasing teams have won on 64 occasions.

De Villiers and Kohli during their record partnership.

7:18 pm: RCB vs MI has always had a fascinating rivalry, although Mumbai has often had the best of its opponent over the 11 years. Think everyone will fondly recall as to what made AB de Villiers one of the favourite overseas batsmen to have visited these shores. On 10th May 2015, De Villiers took apart the Mumbai attack with a 59-ball 133 (19x4s, 4x6s) and had Kohli (82 off 50 balls) for company in an unbeaten 215-run second wicket partnership. How RCB fans would love a ABD-KOhli onslaught tonight...

Our reporter Anjana Senthil from Bengaluru says, "Some 100-plus Mumbai Indians fans gathered at a venue about 1km from the stadium and began marching towards the stadium. There is going to be no dearth of MI fans at RCB's home venue today".

6:55 pm: RCB, it appears, has been preparing for the eventuality that Bumrah will play this game by getting a nets bowler who resembles the India international's unorthodox bowling action. Meet Mahesh Kumar, and watch him bowl against Washington Sundar.

6:47 pm: Things don't get any easier for both RCB and MI, after the hammering they received at the hands of CSK and DC, respectively, in their opening matches. Mumabi's premier strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who injured himself against Delhi Capitals, was seen bowling in the nets without much discomfort. Mumbai camp, however, will be hoping it doesn't unload too much pressure on his injured shoulder of this early in the tournament.

6:45 pm: Good evening, everyone. I am Aashin Prasad and I will be taking you through the live coverage of the blockbuster match-up tonight. Let's hope for a WHAM-BHAM contest as the card suggests!

Jasprit Bumrah's fitness would be a concern when Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians takes on Royal Challengers Bangalore — with both the teams eyeing their first win.

For a better picture, read our reporter Anjana Senthil's match preview: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians did not have a perfect start to IPL 2019. RCB succumbed to an embarrassingly low total in the opener against Chennai Super Kings and MI got the stick for conceding too many runs against Delhi Capitals.

The teams will look to put the disappointments aside and start their IPL journey afresh at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on Thursday.

RCB could score only 70 runs against the defending champion. The pitch at Chepauk was slow and tricky to bat on, but a below-par score from a star-studded batting line-up — comprising Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali and Shimron Hetmyer — was surprising.

RCB, to its credit, did not let it slip easily. After the CSK spin trio of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja claimed nine wickets among them, Kohli’s bowlers stretched the match till the 18th over.

MI let Delhi — read Rishabh Pant — run wild in the death overs to pile on 213 runs in its allotted 20 overs and subsequently lost by 37 runs.

In a positive development for MI and cricket fans, a fit Jasprit Bumrah resumed bowling at the nets. There were no signs of discomfort and he was even seen bowling bouncers at Kieron Pollard. He joined the team a day later, on Tuesday, after being kept under supervision in Mumbai for a shoulder trouble he picked up during fielding against DC.

A final assessment and a call on his selection for the playing XI for the fixture will be taken at the end of the practice session, a Mumbai Indians official said.

Mumbai pacer Lasith Malinga, who got the approval to play in the league from Sri Lanka Cricket, is expected to land in Bengaluru later on Wednesday.

Ben Cutting is likely to make way if Malinga is selected in the playing XI.

“It’s a big game for us tomorrow. We need to get going with a win and hopefully bowl well and get our campaign going this year," MI's wicketkeeper -batsman Quinton de Kock said.

As for the host, it need not worry about the turning pitch. The Chinnaswamy wicket has been a traditionally good batting pitch with shorter boundaries and MI doesn’t boast of a menacing spin attack.

AB de Villiers concurred with the view: “I am hoping the wicket will be good. But every wicket we play is different in the IPL and in the world for that matter. It’s up to us to adapt. We should make sure we assess the conditions really well and whichever wicket we will be getting, we should play better cricket than we did the last time,” he said.

As is often the case in the IPL, RCB captain Kohli opened the innings against CSK. The fans, in various polls across social media, have expressed their desire to see Kohli bat at No. 3.

The Bengaluru fans, busy painting special banners for the first home game, will be out in large numbers and cheering for the team with the ever-hopeful ‘Ee sala cup namde’ chant.

It's been a long wait for the IPL trophy.

The match will be streamed live on Hotstar
