Delhi Daredevils, inserted in to bat by Rising Pune Supergiants, suffered an early blow when Rishabh Pant was bowled in the third over of the innings.
▲
Daredevils' batsmen kept getting starts, but no one stuck at the crease long enough to shepherd the innings. Karun Nair scored 32 off 23 balls.
▲
JP Duminy, the makeshift captain, top scored with 34, and engaged in a 45-run stand with Sam Billings, the highest of the innings. Daredevils eventually finished with 162 for 7 in its 20 overs.
▲
After a fruitful partnership between openers Usman Khawaja and Ajinkya Rahane in Supergiants' chase, Amit Mishra snaffled Khawaja's wicket in the ninth over.
▲
Rahane constructed a fighting knock, playing the role of the anchor.
▲
With the required run-rate rising steadily in the death overs, Supergiants needed some boundaries. Dhoni hit a six and a four in the critical 18th over, off which 20 runs were eventually collected. The required run-rate climbed down from 12.33 to 8.50 runs per over.
▲
Sam Billings took a well-judged catch in the deep midwicket boundary to remove Dhoni in the 19th over.
▲
Thisara Perera (right) hit 14 off five balls to enable a comfortable victory, the team's third this season.
