KKR’s Ferguson looking for chinks in Gayle’s armour

Kolkata Knight Riders pace ace Lockie Ferguson is hopeful of finding some chinks in the armour of big-hitting Kings XI Punjab batsman Chris Gayle when the two sides lock horns in the Indian Premier League at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Interacting with reporters on the eve of the match, Ferguson said concentrating on one’s strength was important against a destructive batsman like Gayle, who scored a 47-ball 79 in KXIP’s 14-run win over the Rajasthan Royals.
“Chris is in some pretty fine touch at the moment. He really batted well last night. It’s nice to watch him. Perhaps there are some areas we can look at attacking him,” Ferguson had said on Tuesday. “It’s important to stick to your plan and back yourself because in T20 (Twenty20), if you keep working on your strengths then definitely it will come off better.”
The New Zealander said he was delighted to be part of the KKR attack. “To have the spin attack we have and with PK (Prasidh Krishna) swinging the ball and being very good at the death, so by no means I think I am leading. We all do our part. Andre Russell also got the wickets.”
Ferguson lavished praise on Russell for the Caribbean player’s match-winning knock of 49 off 19 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. “I have never seen anything like that personally. That was unbelievable. I am pretty excited he is on my side; I don’t have to bowl to him,” said Ferguson.
