From a good domestic outing for Mumbai to leading India U-19 team to its World Cup title, this has been a season to remember for Prithvi Shaw.

The icing on the cake, however, came on Friday, as Shaw made his presence felt in the Indian Premier League, slamming a half-century for Delhi Daredevils against Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Mumbai-based cricketer, who made his IPL debut in Daredevils’ previous game against Kings XI Punjab, played a knock of 62 off 44 deliveries, opening the innings for the team. The young gun looked solid before being cleaned up by Piyush Chawla.

With this half-century, the 18-year-169-day old Shaw also became the youngest to score a half-century in the IPL.

Shaw was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs. 1.2 crore in the auction. So far, he has played 10 first-class matches and has accumulated 1,012 runs at an average of 56.22—including five hundreds and as many half-centuries. The right-hander has also played 13 List A matches, scoring 298 runs, with an average of 22.92.
