Pathan confident ahead of KKR-RCB tie

"They (AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli) got a hundred each and you have to praise both of them for the effort. But the wicket at Eden Gardens is different and it will be an away match for them," Yusuf Pathan said.

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Yusuf Pathan, who has struck a form with the bat, said his team holds the cards against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next encounter at Eden Gardens.

The talk about RCB batting came up after the team coasted to a big 144-run win at its home in Bengaluru in the last outing, after posting a massive 248 for three on the outstanding contributions of AB de Villiers (129 not out) and Virat Kohli, who scored a 55-ball 109.

“They (de Villiers and Kohli) got a hundred each and you have to praise both of them for the effort. But the wicket at Eden Gardens is different and it will be an away match for them,” Pathan said at a promotional event here on Sunday.

“We have been playing here for some time (this being be third successive match at Eden for KKR) so we have the home advantage. We will be focusing on the positives but they (RCB) have the task of settling down in conditions which are different,” Pathan said.

Pathan, who cracked a valuable 37 to help KKR beat Rising Pune Supergiants in a rian-truncated match on Saturday at the Eden, said the knock was the result of a good season he is having. “I have been playing well this season so I was confident. I just wanted continue with the form and that got the result,” Pathan said.

Regarding Sunil Narine’s modest run in this season, Pathan said: “Piyush (Chawla) is bowling well and the spinners together are performing well. We are not dependant on one bowler and I feel everyone is contributing whenever he is getting an opportunity.”
