Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) registered its second win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 from five matches after defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 27 runs on Sunday.

RPS set a target of 162 for RCB to win, but Pune's pacers helped the team defend the modest total. Shardul Thakur and Ben Stokes picked up three wickets each, with the English all-rounder picking up the very important wickets of Virat Kohli and Shane Watson.

However, it was Manoj Tiwary's 11-ball 27, which included two sixes and three fours, that helped RPS push its total past 150.

After Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi provided a strong start to the Pune side, skipper Steve Smith and M. S. Dhoni tried to build on the opening partnership. However, the momentum was broken by some neat bowling by S. Aravind and Shane Watson.

Runs eluded RPS and it was Tiwary's powerful punches, especially hitting Watson in the 19th over for three fours and one six, that played crucial role in Supergiant's victory in the end.
