Tahir, who played for Delhi Daredevils last season, has been picked by the Rising Pune Supergiant.

When South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction last month, the cricketing fraternity was in a state of shock. Not many could believe that the top-ranked bowler in limited overs cricket would actually be left out of the cash-rich league. But then, with none of the franchises showing interest in Tahir, he was left without a team.

However, on Thursday, the Rising Pune Supergiant—which changed its name from Supergiants to Supergiant—roped in the South African spinner in place of injured Mitchell Marsh.

Tahir played for Delhi Daredevils last season, and turned out to be one of the trusted bowlers for the side. Tahir was included in the side from the registered available player pool list (RAPP list). As per the player regulations, RPS is allowed the replacement player from the RAPP list.
