Six players each from CSK and RR to be part of two new franchisees

CSK and RR team officials were found guilty of betting by the Supreme Court.

According to information received, six players from Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be offered by lots to the two new franchisees for the next two IPLs. The rest of the CSK and RR players will be released for open auction.

Former champions CSK and RR have been suspended from the Twenty20 league for two years by the Supreme Court appointed Justice R. M.Lodha committee after their team officials were held guilty for betting and thus violating the IPL operational rules.

In all proability, the two new owners will have to pay around USD18 million and USD13.4 million to be part of the league for the 2016 and 2017 season.

The IPL will become a 10-team event once the two franchises return from suspension in 2018.
