SRH v DD Star Wars: It’s Bhuvi v Sanju in battle of unequals

If the vastly experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar has spearheaded the Hyderabad bowling attack, a rather younger Samson has been Daredevils’ batting mainstay.

On paper, it’s not a match at all. In terms of experience, it’s not a match at all. And in terms of playing style, it’s definitely not a match.

But even then, as Sunrisers Hyderabad takes on Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Tuesday, it’s no-matchers — Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sanju Samson — who will call the shots. If the vastly experienced Kumar has spearheaded the Hyderabad bowling attack this time around, a rather younger Samson has been Delhi Daredevils’ batting mainstay. He, along with Rishabh Pant, has given the Rahul Dravid-mentored side the edge, as far as batting in the middle-order is considered.

In a fast and furious format like the T20s, it is important for a batsman to be consistent and determined, and that’s where Samson has fitted in perfectly. Providing that cushion of comfort to his team, the youngster has been able to be a bright spot despite team’s dull performance. And, he would be hoping to keep dazzling against the super-loaded Sunrisers.

That’s where Kumar would also like to strike back.

Being the highest wicket-taker (15 wickets from five games) in the tournament so far, the Uttar Pradesh bowler has been the most effective performers for his side. While he has put a run-check, Kumar has struck back even at the times of crisis — making him look quite fiery. He would like to maintain that zing when the team takes on Daredevils.

With a series of wins, Sunrisers would start as favourite against the Delhi outfit. But then, in such an uncertain format like the IPL, no match is a good match!
