Jhulan Goswami confirms biopic ‘Chakdah Express’

The 34-year-old will be the first Indian female cricketer to have a biopic to her credit. Chakdah is a small town in the Nadia district of West Bengal.

The 34-year-old who grew up in Chakdah, a small town in the Nadia district of West Bengal, is also the highest wicket-taker for the eves in one-dayers (195 wickets in 164 outings).

After M.S. Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, India women’s team cricketer Jhulan Goswami confirmed that a film will be made on her next, titled ‘Chakdah Express’. It will be directed by Susanta Das.

She will be the first female cricketer, who will have a biopic to her credit.

“I have got proposals for a biopic before as well. This is the right time I thought,” Goswami told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.

The experienced seam bowler helped India reach the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup earlier this year with a blistering three-for. Though the team lost by nine runs, it won million hearts.

The 34-year-old who grew up in Chakdah, a small town in the Nadia district of West Bengal, is also the highest wicket-taker for the eves in one-dayers (195 wickets in 164 outings).

“We will send our crew to wherever Jhulan played. The focus will be her journey, the odds she overcame since she was a kid. I hope it motivates youngsters. It’s about chasing your dream,” said Das.

The film is likely to release in November 2018.
