Rashid Khan to represent Durban Heat in Mzansi Super League

With the inaugural season of the Mzansi Super League about a month away, the player draft took place at Montecasino in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

The new league, its six teams and several international players were confirmed in the first part of the draft on Monday, following a prior announcement of the stadiums set to be used, with the tournament due to run for a month from November 16.

There were a total of 330 players in the draft, which consisted of 141 batsmen, 67 all-rounders and 122 bowlers.

Earlier, it came to be known that Hashim Amla will play for Durban Heat, Rabada for Jozi Stars, and De Villiers for Tshwane Spartans. Nelson Mandela Bay Giants had acquired Imran Tahir, with JP Duminy due to feature for Cape Town Blitz, and Du Plessis for Paarl Rocks.

However, today Durban Heat picked spin sensation Rashid Khan as its International Marquee player, even as the explosive Chris Gayle went to the Jozi Stars. Paarl Rocks have picked Dwayne Bravo, while Cape Town Blitz acquired Dawid Malan. England's Jason Roy went to the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants even as skipper Eoin Morgan will be playing for the Tshwane Spartans.
