Former Maharastra State Election Commissioner D.N. Chaudhari has told the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that “it would be legally not in order” for him to take up the position of electoral officer for the MCA election.

Citing extracts of orders of the Supreme Court, Chaudhari has informed MCA CEO C.S. Naik that holding the election as per the directions of the BCCI Committee of Administrators would breach the order of the Supreme Court. He added that it would mean contempt of court and accepting the role of electoral officer would mean falling in line with those who commit contempt of court.

Chaudhari also referred to the minutes of the joint meeting between the CoA, MCA ad-hoc committee and the Supreme Court-appointed amicus and mediator P.S. Narasimha, stating that it would not be right to hold an election by showing utter disregard for a specific order of the Supreme Court.
