After England all-rounder Moeen Ali's allegations that he was called “Osama” by an Australian player during an Ashes test in 2015, coach Trevor Bayliss has revealed that Moeen did not want the situation to spin out of control during the course of the match.

"No, he didn't want it to go any further," Bayliss told Sydney's Daily Telegraph . "He's a very softly spoken sort of a bloke. He doesn't want to create too many problems for anyone.

"There were other players in the team who wanted to take it further but he talked them into not taking it any further."

Moeen made the allegation public in his autobiography, where he says, “An Australian player ... turned to me on the field and said, 'Take that, Osama',” he recalled. “I could not believe what I had heard. I remember going really red. I have never been so angry on a cricket field."

However, three years have passed since the incident took place and Bayliss isn't going to make too much out of it.  "Let's move on. [Cricket Australia] can do what they like I suppose - everyone has sort of forgotten about it and moved on since then. I don't see it as any real big deal," he said.
