Nagaland Cricket Association is confident that the stadium will be ready on time as it gears up to host Ranji Trophy ties.

After making its debut in the BCCI domestic calendar with Vijay Hazare Trophy in the Plate group, Nagaland is now set to host four Ranji Trophy games starting November 1 at the Sovima Cricket Ground in Dimapur.

“Our first game at home will be against Mizoram. I am currently not in a position to confirm the other three opponents,”  P. Bendang Jamir, vice-president of Nagaland Cricket Association said.

“We are also planning a special bus service from the city to Sovima (around 11 kms away) for the spectators, which will be free of cost. The matches are open to all,” he added.

When Sportstar visited the ground in September, a new dressing room was under construction, which is likely to be functional before the start of the tournament.

“It is almost complete. There will also be a shamiana and additional chairs for the spectators.”

Among the six north-east teams in the Vijay Hazare trophy, Nagaland fared best with five wins in eight games.
