Pujara scores 75 as Yorkshire trumps Leics

India’s Cheteshwar Pujara scored an unbeaten 75 in Yorkshire’s nine-wicket win over Leicestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup in Liecester on Sunday.

Chasing 294, openers Adam Lyth and Tom Kohler-Cadmore put on 153, before Pujara and Lyth added 142 more to guide Yorkshire home. Lyth ended with an unbeaten 132. Leicestershire’s Indian speedster Varun Aaron could not do much as he finished with figures of none for 63.

Leicestershire’s innings of 293 was constructed mainly through Mark Cosgrove’s 80 and half-centuries from Ned Eckersley and Neil Dexter. With this win, Yorkshire takes third spot in the points table, while the host sits at the bottom.

Leicestershire travels to Worcester to play Worcestershire on Tuesday, while Yorkshire travels to Derby to play Derbyshire on Wednesday.

In Bristol

Sussex’s Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma didn’t feature for his side on Sunday as the tie against Gloucestershire at the County Ground was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to inclement weather.

With the points being shared, Gloucestershire stays in the fourth spot, while Sussex rises to take the fifth position.

Sussex travels to London to play Surrey on Tuesday.
