The Supreme Court on Thursday appointed Lt. Gen. Ravi Thodge as the third member of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) along with two existing members - Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji.

During the hearing earlier in the day, the bench comprising of Justice S. A. Bobde and Justice A. M. Sapre appointed Justice D. K. Jain, a former Supreme Court Judge as BCCI's new Ombudsman.

CoA had only Rai and Edulji as members after historian Ramachandra Guha and banker Vikram Limaye resigned.

While hearing various issues regarding Lodha recommendations, the apex court also cautioned Rai and Edulji not to make their differences public.

“I am absolutely honoured that I have been given this opportunity by the honourable Supreme Court to serve as CoA member,” Thodge, a Param Vishisht Seva Medal awardee who is expected to attend Friday’s CoA meeting in New Delhi, said.

“I hope I can live up to whatever is expected of me. I have been actively involved in sporting activities during my time in the Indian Army. But yes, this is my first foray into sports administration,” he added.
