Owing to paucity of grounds, players from Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh will have to travel to Odisha and Assam, respectively, for the preparatory camps ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology ground in Bhubaneswar is allotted to Sikkim for preparation, according to an email sent by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the Sikkim Cricket Association and the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA). The letter, by Anant Datar, BCCI assistant manager (logistics), also mentions that Arunachal Pradesh is given a ground in Goalpara to organise a camp from September 8-13.

No ground

Players from both States are asked to reach the venues a day prior. “A ground in Odisha has been allotted to us for preparatory camps. We informed the Board since we don’t have a proper ground, it would be difficult to host pre-season camps,” Lobzang Tenzing, Sikkim Cricket Association president, told Sportstar .

The association officials confirmed it wouldn’t have been possible to host preparatory matches at the Mining Ground in Rangpo, where the State hosted the trial camp earlier this week.

That the Arunachal Pradesh camp will be held in Goalpara has been conveyed by the Board to the State association, confirmed Koli Tado, the ACA secretary. However, as the association is planning to host selection trials on September 5, it remains to be seen which players travel for the camp.
