Smriti Mandhana scores maiden Test hundred in pink ball Test against Australia

Smriti Mandhana's 100* (170b) has been the backbone of India's innings in the one-off Test against Australia in the Gold Coast.

This is the first century by an Indian woman on Australian soil and only the second Test hundred by an Indian against the Aussies.

India's Smriti Mandhana reached her maiden Test century in the pink ball Test against Australia in the Gold Coast on Friday.

Mandhana's first triple digit score in Test cricket came in 170 deliveries and has been the backbone of the Indian innings in the one-off pink ball game in Carrara.

This is the first century by an Indian woman on Australian soil and only the second Test hundred by an Indian against the Aussies.

 

Mandhana added to her overnight score of 80 and brought up her hundred with a glorious pull off Ellyse Perry that raced to the boundary.

The 25-year-old helped India get off to a solid start on day one as she paired with fellow-opener Shafali Verma in a 93-run opening stand. After Verma's dismissal on 31, Punam Raut joined Mandhana to take India to 132/1 before rain washed out most of the day.

With her hundred, Mandhana entered an elite list of Indian women Test centurions, becoming the ninth player from the country to reach the triple digit mark.
