Steve Smith was dismissed for a duck in his first Sheffield Shield game in the best part of two years.

After a successful Ashes campaign, where the England bowlers ended up being carted all over the park, Steve Smith was dismissed for a duck in his first Sheffield Shield game in the best part of two years.

Smith racked up 774 runs in four Tests against England, but was removed for a fifth-ball duck by Queensland and American pacer Cameron Gannon, at the Gabba on Thursday.

Australia's No. 4 edged a wide ball from Gannon to Joe Burns in the cordon. Gannon has had a rollercoaster ride so far - he was banned from bowling after biomechanical tests revealed his action was illegal. He had enjoyed a breakthrough season with 31 Sheffield Shield wickets at an average of 23.

However, he returned with a remodelled action and even made his international debut for the United States in the Americas qualifier for the ICC T20 World Cup.
