The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has advanced the date of its Executive Committee meeting from September 23 to 22 (Sunday).

The need to complete the TNCA elections before September 28 as per the Supreme Court directive has forced the State Association to quicken up the proceedings.

The EC meeting will be crucial. The date for the TNCA elections will be announced. We will also get to know about the candidates in the fray.

It is expected that the candidature of Rupa Gurunath, former BCCI and ICC chief N. Srinivasan's daughter, will be announced for the role of the president at the meeting.

The ruling dispensation in the TNCA is strong and appears to have the numbers. It remains to be seen if those in the opposition can come together and put up candidates.

The TNCA, it is learnt, is seeking to put together a dynamic team that is a healthy mix of smart administrators and former cricketers.

Rupa, who is expected to be at the helm, would need a bright, proactive team that will set the tone for her tenure.

Meanwhile, the three-member panel’s report on alleged fixing in the TNPL is almost complete and will be out any time now.

Keeping Tamil Nadu cricket clean is another challenge before the incoming set of administrators in the TNCA.
