Siechem Madurai Panthers coasted to a seven-wicket victory over Dindigul Dragons in the Shriram Capital- Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) at the NPR College grounds in Natham (Dindigul district) on Thursday.

Opting to bowl, Panthers’ seamer Sunny Sandhu started off with a wicket maiden. K. Vishal Vaidhya top-edged a pull and was caught by wicket-keeper S. Rithik Easwaran, making his debut.

With the PowerPlay yielding just 24, Dragons’ batters began to free their arms. K. Mani Bharathy struck a four and a six off B. Rocky in the seventh over before skipper C. Hari Nishaanth hit a maximum off J. Kousik in the next over.

However, their 51-run partnership ended when ’keeper Easwara produced a smart piece of work to run out Mani Bharathy. Hari Nishaanth, too, was run out off a direct hit from K.B. Arun Karthick four balls later.

Sandhu, who picked up the wickets of A.G. Pradeep and R. Vivek to reduce the Dindigul side to 66 for five, finished with impressive figures of 4-1-11-3.

No. 5 R.S. Mokit Hariharan (43 n.o., 31b, 4x4, 1x6) was the lone-ranger, but Panthers’ bowlers chipped away at the other end.

Thirty came off the final two overs, with Mokit scoring the bulk of the runs and taking Dragons to 122 for nine.

In reply, opener Arun Karthick (41, 31b, 7x4) and B. Anirudh (51 n.o., 34b, 9x4) were partners in progress, their 55-run alliance for the second wicket powering Panthers to victory with plenty to spare.

After a two-day break, the TNPL caravan moves to Coimbatore.

The scores:

Dindigul Dragons 122/9 in 20 overs (R.S. Mokit Hariharan 43 n.o., Sunny Sandhu 3/11, Varun Chakravarthy 2/14)  lost to Siechem Madurai Panthers 126/3 in 15.3 overs (K.B. Arun Karthick 41, B. Anirudh 51 n.o.); MoM: Anirudh.
