Bagan team safe in earthquake-hit Myanmar

The Mohun Bagan contingent was having dinner at the team hotel when the players and support staff experienced tremors as the dinner table started shaking. It was confirmed via social networking site Twitter that the players and support staff of India’s national club were safe.

Mohun Bagan players rushed out of the hotel to be on the road after experience tremors in Yangon, Myanmar on Wednesday.

The 25-member Mohun Bagan football team that was in Myanmar to play its AFC Cup match is reported to be safe after a massive earthquake measuring 7.2 on richter scale hit the country’s capital.

Mohun Bagan today played out a 1-1 draw against Yangon United in its final group league match.

It has been learnt that the Bagan contingent was having dinner at the team hotel when the players and support staff experienced tremors as the dinner table started shaking.

The entire squad rushed out of the hotel to be on the road. Once the tremors stopped, the footballers and the support staff were back in the confines of their hotel rooms.

It was confirmed via social networking site Twitter that the players and support staff of India’s national club were safe.
