Striker Ansumana Kromah’s brace helped Peerless upset defending champion Mohun Bagan 3-0 in a Calcutta Football League Premier Division ‘A’ match here on Monday.

Kromah spoilt Bagan’s party in its first match by scoring a goal apiece in either half at the Bagan club ground.

AS IT HAPPENED: Kromah brace helps Peerless thump Mohun Bagan 3-0

The Liberian put last year’s runner-up Peerless ahead by scoring from a through ball sent in by Pankaj Moula in 21 minute.

Peerless maintained pressure on an error-prone Bagan and managed to score twice in the second half.

Laxmikanta Mandi slotted one over Bagan keeper Shilton Paul’s head to make the most of a counter-attack and double the lead in the 77th minute.

Kromah completed his brace when he shot into the open goal after Paul came out of his place a minute later.

To add insult to injury, Bagan witnessed Salva Chamorro’s penalty being saved by Peerless custodian James Keitan in injury time.

This was Peerless’ first win in three matches.

The result: Peerless 3 (Kromah 21, 78; Mandi 77) bt Mohun Bagan 0
