The Sevilla players trained on Monday morning at their Ciudad Deportiva base.

Sevilla will be playing its first quarterfinal since the competition was renamed as Champions League in 1992, having previously featured in a last-eight clash in the 1957-58 season. But it has reached this stage having upset Manchester United in the previous round (by 2-1 on aggregate) and boasts a good home record to give itself a chance against a formidable Bayern Munich.

Bayern sealed the Bundesliga title on Saturday with a 6-0 win over Borussia Dortmund and can now focus completely on bringing its four-season wait for a Champions League trophy to an end.

Team news

Sevilla will be without arguably its most influential player, Ever Banega, who will miss the first leg due to suspension for accumulation of three yellow cards.

For Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer, despite returning to training after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a left foot injury, is unlikely to make the squad for this fixture. Kingsley Coman is expected to miss the rest of the season having undergone a surgery for a left ankle injury.

Possible line-ups and formations

Sevilla (4-2-3-1): Sergio Rico (GK); Gabriel Mercado, Simon Kjaer, Clement Lenglet, Sergio Escudero; Steven N'Zonzi, Johannes Geis; Pablo Sarabia, Franco Vazquez, Joaquin Correa; Luis Muriel/Wissam Ben Yedder

Bayern Munich (4-3-3): Sven Ulreich (GK); Joshua Kimmich, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, David Alaba; Arturo Vidal, James Rodriguez, Tiago Alcantara; Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski, Franck Ribery
