Chennaiyin FC confirms departure of Isaac Vanmalsawma, Chris Herd, Nikhil Bernard

Isaac has moved to Jamshedpur FC on a permanent transfer, while Chris and Nikhil have left following the expiry of their respective contracts.

Midfielders Isaac Vanmalsawma and Chris Herd, and goalkeeper Nikhil Bernard have exited Chennaiyin FC, the Indian Super League club confirmed on Friday.

Isaac has moved to Jamshedpur FC on a permanent transfer, while Chris and Nikhil have left following the expiry of their respective contracts.

Isaac, who belongs to Mizoram, completes a permanent transfer to Jamshedpur FC for an undisclosed fee. He had joined Chennaiyin from FC Pune City before the 2018-19 season.

Chris had joined Chennaiyin midway through the 2018-19 season and made five appearances in the ISL. He put in three impressive performances in the club’s run to the Super Cup final, but missed out on the decider through suspension. Chris also played seven times in the AFC Cup, finding the back of the net in the 2-0 home win over Nepal’s Manang Marshyangdi Club in the group stage. 

Nikhil Bernard joined the club after a stint at Gokulam Kerala FC, ahead of the 2018-19 season. He departs without having made any senior team appearances.
