Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero celebrates after scoring against Newcastle.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero scored his 100th Premier League goal against Newcastle United at St James' Park.

The Argentina international opened the scoring for the visitor after 16 minutes, heading home Aleksandar Kolarov's free kick, despite appearing to be offside, to become the 25th player to net a century of Premier League goals.

Aguero had grabbed a hat-trick against Chelsea on Saturday to take his tally to 99 from 146 appearances ahead of the trip to face Rafael Benitez's struggling side.

The striker certainly seems to enjoy playing Newcastle, the 27-year-old hit five past the Magpies back in October as City ran out 6-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero's century comes in 147 appearances, ensuring he is the second-fastest man to reach the landmark - behind Alan Shearer who managed the feat in just 124 games.
