FIFA U-17 WC: Which clubs do the stars represent?

As the scouts continue to scour the U-17 World Cup, some players in the ongoing tournament have already made their professional club debuts. Here is a sneak-peek of the clubs which have represents in the ongoing biennial tournament.

It is a well-known fact that the FIFA U-17 World Cup has always been a massive platform to unearth upcoming football stars. 

Some of the biggest footballing icons, including the likes of Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, Spanish wizard Andres Iniesta, German stalwart Toni Kroos and even the world’s most expensive player, Neymar Jr, all won international acclaim after their performances at the age-group tournament.  

The U-17 World Cup matches are studded with player scouts from leading football clubs across the world, keeping a keen eye out to identify and possibly sign some of the freshest and newest talents. However, as the scouts continue to scour, some players in the ongoing World Cup in India have already made their professional club debuts.

The elite group includes France captain  Amine Gouiri , who has featured for  Olympique Lyonnais  in the Ligue 1.

Takefusa Kubo, who is also known as the “Japanese Messi”, plays in Japan’s top-flight league, the J-league for FC Tokyo.

German attacker  Jann-Fiete Arp  recently made his professional debut for  Hamburger SV , making him the first player born after 2000 to feature in the Bundesliga.  

Iraqi star-striker  Mohammed Dawood  represents  Al-Naft SC  in the Iraqi Premier League and scored an impressive nine goals in his debut season with the outfit.

Here are some other clubs who have representatives at the World Cup, with the list topped by Turkish side Galatasaray.

Turkey’s most successful club with 20 Super Lig titles,  Galatasaray  makes up one third of the national squad, counting captain Recep Gul . The side has a total of seven representations, spread across positions.

Premier League champion  Chelsea  leads the number of participants among the English clubs with five represents, including  Callum Hudson — Odoi, who scored in England's tie against Chile on October 8.  

The England side also features four  Manchester City  boys, including goalkeeper Curtis Anderson. Adding up the numbers, City and Chelsea together form nearly half of the national team with a total of nine players.

Spanish giant  Real Madrid  accounts for five players, while  Barcelona  has four and the two clubs pretty much combine to form the entire Spanish starting XI, led by captain Abel Ruiz , who plays for the Barcelona B team.

American club  Atlanta United  has three participants in the national squad, including goalkeeper Justin Garces. Adding to the national represents are two Honduras players, Alexander Bahr and Alessandro Castro , as well.

Four members of the German contingent play for Bundesliga outfit  RB Leipzig , including influential midfielder  Elias Abouchabaka and forward Nicolas Kuehn .
