During the match, the home crowd, which hero-worshipped him just a few months ago, unfurled banners that branded him a "traitor".

Khalid Jamil didn't have a happy "homecoming" to Aizawl as his East Bengal side played out a goalless draw with the host on Tuesday.

If the result wasn't bad enough for Khalid, as East Bengal sits three points behind Minerva Punjab in second, his misery was further compounded after his former employer filed an FIR against him.

The FIR pertains to his comments in the pre-match presser, where he claimed he was forced to leave the club after he had led it to an historic title triumph last season.

Robert Romawia Royte, President of Aizawl FC, told Sportstar : "Yes, I can confirm there is an FIR filed against him (Jamil). He said he was asked to leave the club after last season, which is contrary to what actually happened. It is a lie."

There are, however, contradictory reports about the FIR.

Vanlalnghaka Chhawnchhek, General Secretary, Aizawl, said: "The FIR has not been filed by the club. It was by the Red Army, the supporter association who were hurt by Jamil's comment in the pre-match presser. The FIR was filed before the match but Jamil was allowed to manage his team."

During the match, the home crowd, which hero-worshipped him just a few months ago, unfurled banners that branded him a "traitor".

East Bengal's team bus was also stopped by the angry home fans after the match. However, there was no violence and no reported injuries.
